We will be having a whole school Charity Day on Monday 23rd March to raise money for Nourish Community Foodbank who are also the recipients of this year’s school play fundraising for Oliver!
As part of the Charity Day we are inviting the children to wear a hat. Prep pupils can wear any hat of choice and we would like to encourage all Pre-Prep children to either adapt a hat or create an Easter hat to wear during an Easter Hat Parade. We ask pupils to bring in a donation for the charity on the day; we are grateful for what you are able to give, with £2 as a guidance.
Nourish supports people in need by delivering emergency food and supplies across the Tunbridge Wells borough, south Tonbridge and surrounding areas.
Working as a lifeline for people who are experiencing tough times, the vast majority of people who receive an emergency supply of food from Nourish are working people who are experiencing a temporary financial hardship due to a change in circumstances, such as domestic violence, sickness or an unexpected bill.

Thank you in advance for your family’s support of this important cause.

Many St Michael’s children took part in the Tunbridge Wells Arts Festival (TWAF) last weekend and a full report will be shared in next week’s newsletter.
Please send any photos that you took at the Festival to Miss Randall in our Marketing Team at crandall@stmichaels.kent.sch.uk.
If you would like your child's certificate from the festival to be presented in an assembly, please can you send these in to the Office in either Prep or Pre-Prep by next Wednesday morning. All cups should also be brought in by next Wednesday so that they can be presented in the end of term assembly.

Last week saw the launch of the 2026 Prep House Reading Competition, with the focus this year being book recommendations.
The children have been given a bookmark, the colour of which corresponds to their house, on which to collect stamps. They can claim a stamp when they have finished reading a book that has been recommended to them. There are eight categories, including 'read a book recommended by an adult who is in your family' and 'read a book recommended by a child who goes to a different school to you'. Information about all of the categories can be found on the bookmarks.
We hope the House Reading Competition will encourage the children to discover new authors, genres and book series by having conversations about books and reading. The children will also find out more about the people they know and it will foster some good-natured rivalry between houses! The aim is not necessarily to collect all eight stamps, as every single stamp counts towards the collective house totals.
The competition runs until the start of next term, with the deadline for stamp collection being Thursday 23rd April. The children can claim stamps for books they started reading no earlier than Wednesday 25th February, when they were first introduced to the competition in assembly. Stamps can be claimed from English Teachers and Mrs Citron and will be collected in during form times.
There are no individual prizes available as this is solely a house competition.
Happy reading!

Are you curious about Science? Love explaining how things work? We are encouraging our Years 7 and 8 pupils to enter a Science Snippets Competition and share a science topic they are passionate about.
The challenge is simple: pupils create a 60‑second video explaining a science topic of their choice - it could be anything from space and animals to chemistry, engineering or medicine. The aim is to explain their idea clearly and engagingly to an audience, showing not just what they know but how well they can communicate it.
Entries close: Sunday 29th March 2026
Finalists present live at Tonbridge School in May 2026 with a four‑minute live presentation judged by an expert panel of scientists and educators. It’s a brilliant chance to build confidence, creativity and communication skills.
Please do talk to your Science teacher if you have any questions; we can’t wait to see the entries.
The Science Department

St Michael's Prep is an NRich problem solving school which means that we include problem-solving regularly in our lessons. As a result, since the beginning of the Lent Term, the Maths Department have been sharing fortnightly problems for the pupils to solve.
The deadline for the next challenge (detailed below) is Friday 20th March; good luck!

Many thanks to those who have joined us for our Welly Walks so far this term. It is lovely to see both current and future members of the St Michael's community at these events, enjoying our beautiful grounds.
Our Welly Walks take place every Friday during term time: please join us for a fun and friendly outdoor adventure. Guided by a member of staff, little explorers (and their carers) can splash, stomp and discover the wonders of nature on our Welly Walks.
What to expect:
Come along, get muddy, meet new friends, make memories and enjoy the great outdoors with us!
The meeting point is at Novell’s Coffee Cart outside St Michael's Pre-Prep at 9am, Fridays during term time.
Next walk: Friday 20th March 2026 9-10am.
You must register your interest to attend; please click here to sign-up.
