Years 7 and 8

We pride ourselves on offering a unique Years 7 and 8 experience at St Michael’s Prep. 

At St Michael’s, Years 7 and 8 combine the academic rigour and expectations of a senior school with the supportive environment of a close-knit community. In this dedicated space, pupils develop key skills, embrace challenges and grow in confidence as they prepare for the transition to Year 9. 

St Michael’s offers a vibrant and forward-looking curriculum for Years 7 and 8, designed to equip pupils with the knowledge, skills and confidence to excel in life beyond St Michael’s. We are proud to provide the St Michael’s Diploma for Years 7 and 8, alongside innovative pre-GCSE lessons in English, Maths and Science. These courses ensure our pupils are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.

Our Years 7 and 8 pupils serve as role models to our younger pupils, offering guidance, support, knowledge and encouragement, while inspiring others through their example and achievements.

Throughout their time in Years 7 and 8, the pupils enjoy a number of unforgettable day and residential trips including a week in France, an international Sports Tour, residential to the Isle of Wight, Creative Arts Trip to London and many more. 

The opportunity for pupils to flourish academically is naturally a priority, although we adapt our curriculum to suit the needs of pupils of all abilities, including preparations for scholarships and participation in a variety of subjects including Sport, Music, Art and Drama. We celebrate the pupils’ many talents and successes with them as well as offering advice and guidance to parents and pupils about the senior schools which would best suit them.
