Dear Parents,
Welcome to Michaelmas Term 2025. If you are new to St Michael’s, I hope you have found the start of your child’s educational journey with us to be a happy and informative one.
Nursery children have been having Settling Sessions this week with their parents. Parents of children in Kindergarten to Year 2 are invited into the Pre-Prep Dining Room next week for coffee and a chat about Pre-Prep. Monday for Year 2 parents, Tuesday for Year 1 parents, Wednesday for Reception parents and Thursday for Kindergarten parents. Coffee will be available from 8.45am and we will aim to finish by 9.30am. If you are unable to make one of these Coffee Mornings, please do not worry; I am sure your Class Reps will be able to answer any questions. I am always at the top of the bridge in the mornings so feel free to ask me if you are unsure about anything that is happening.
Today the children in Year 1 and Year 2 have been spending the day in their houses: Windsor, Rochester, Dover and Leeds with children from Prep. They have been involved in exploring the school grounds, reading to each other, singing together and creating a joint artwork. It is the first time I can remember us doing something like this and it is always exciting to work with Prep.
Year 2 had an Animal Experience on Wednesday morning. The highlight for many of the staff was the appearance of three owlets who are being hand reared and still can’t fly. It’s such a privilege to see these creatures up close. I think the children loved the python best!
As from next week, could parents please only park alongside the metal barrier if you are dropping your children off and you are confident that they will walk down the bridge by themselves. If you wish to walk your children into the Garden or to take your child to Nursery /Kindergarten please park in one of our car parks. Unattended cars really do hold the traffic up. Thank you.
Overheard in Pre-Prep:
Child: "My ear hurts but I promise I haven’t put any sweetcorn in it."
Have a lovely weekend,
Zerrin Leech
