Pupils of St Michael's Prep School have raised an incredible £15,203 for charity as part of this year's Schools' Knight Frank Triathlon.
Competing in the race at Sevenoaks School during May, the children were challenged to swim 50m, cycle 1000m and run 750m, but that wasn't the hardest part. As part of their entry for the triathlon, the children also had to come up with inventive ways to raise money for charities including Restless Development who support the power of young people to create a better World. They train, mentor and connect thousands of young people to lead positive change in their communities, tackling challenges like lack of education, unemployment and climate change.
In total, 133 pupils in Years 3 to 6 at St Michael's competed in the triathlon and in total, the school's teams raised £15,203 for charity of which £3911 was donated to St Michael's chosen charity Demelza House who the school have a long-standing support of, and £11,292 was donated to Restless Development.
Writing to St Michael's on Monday 16th June, the Knight Frank Schools' Triathlon Team said: "We are really pleased to inform you that your pupils raised an amazing £15,203! We would like to say a huge thank you to your pupils and the school community for your fundraising efforts. Yet again the Schools' Triathlon reached new heights, showing the incredible strength of young people when they come together."
Commenting on the pupils' participation in the event, Director of Sport at St Michael's, Steve Brightman added: "It was a joy and privilege to watch our triathletes compete. Everywhere we looked, there were smiling faces from St Michael's, magnificently supported by parents and relatives, turning the day into a fantastic family event. Congratulations to all of the children who took part for their brilliant achievement. We are very proud of you!"
