Three swimmers from St Michael's Prep School qualified for the 2025 IAPS Swimming Championships held at London's Aquatic Centre on Saturday 7th June 2025. Bringing together the country's best young swimmers, the event saw many talented pupils race for the chance to secure national titles and this year, Kayla F, Miranda H and Nathan H were set to represent St Michael's following their success in the qualifying competition.
Kayla F had qualified for the 50m Backstroke in the U11 category. Sadly, due to illness, she was unable to compete on the day, however her qualification alone speaks volumes about her dedication and ability and St Michael's look forward to seeing her back in action soon.
Miranda H took to the pool in the U10 50m Breaststroke and delivered an exceptional performance. In the heats, Miranda achieved a personal best time of 44.15 seconds, placing her 8th and securing a spot in the Final. In the Final she showed remarkable composure and determination, improving her time by 0.69 seconds to finish in 43.46 seconds, climbing up to 6th place nationally. This was an outstanding achievement at such a high level of competition.
In the afternoon session, Nathan H competed in the U11 50m Breaststroke. Nathan delivered a powerful swim in the heats, clocking 40.51 seconds which placed him 6th and earned him a place in the Final. Rising to the occasion, Nathan broke the 40-second barrier in the Final with a phenomenal time of 39.86 seconds—a personal best and a major milestone. This incredible performance secured him 5th place overall in the nation.
Commenting on the pupils' success, Swim School Manager at St Michael's Prep School, Rosalind Fornasier said: "Competing at a venue as iconic as the London Aquatic Centre was a memorable experience for all involved. Watching Miranda and Nathan rise to the occasion and place in the top 10 in the UK is a testament to their hard work, resilience and athletic talent. We are incredibly proud of them both and of Kayla for reaching the Finals."
