Congratulations to Year 8 pupil, O Goodwin, who has been elected as a member of the Kent Youth County Council.

One of his first stops will be a weekend residential course with other members of the Youth Council, where they will receive training to support them in their role as KYCC members. The training will include presentation skills, debating, learning how to represent others and learning how to chair meetings. The youngsters will also learn about how to get in involved with the British Youth Council and the UK Youth Parliament.

He was delighted that at this week’s Youth Council meeting they were given the news that Sevenoaks Town Council will make the promotion of action on climate change and moving towards zero carbon their number one priority. This is something the Sevenoaks Youth Council have been lobbying for. The Town Council will also be looking at the installation of electric car charging points  – this is a direct result of a motion put forward by O Goodwin.

At the meeting the Youth Council also made fund raising plans to support their chosen charity Stem4 which works to support positive mental health in teenagers.
