Inspired by their Owl Experience last term, Reception recently brought their bird knowledge to the Prep Art Rooms to produce ceramic artwork with the help of our senior Art Scholars.

Using a range of tools to create intricate bird tiles out of clay, Reception visited the Art Rooms twice to make and then glaze their designs.

Reception returned to Prep last week to paint their tiles which have been in the kiln. They listened very carefully to Ms Rodwell as she demonstrated how to paint the tile using special glaze paint.

They needed to choose two colours that were not too similar, so their bird would stand out, therefore they had some difficult decisions to make! Using two different sized brushes to paint the image of the bird and the pattern surrounding it, the room was silent as the children focused on decorating their brilliant tiles. It was such good fun and they felt very grown up being at Prep and spending time with the Art Scholars. We can’t wait to see the final products!
