Wellbeing and Pastoral

The wellbeing of everyone at St Michael’s is the foundation upon which the children, and staff, develop and grow both as individuals and as part of our community.

The children are taught the importance of their mental, physical and emotional health and wellbeing, through lessons, assemblies, Chapel and shared experiences within school life. The ethos of the school; Perseverance, Wisdom and Gratitude, helps to equip our children and whole community with the skills and mindset to improve wellbeing for ourselves and others.

Children at St Michael’s are empowered to speak up and embrace opportunities for sharing their thoughts and opinionsSchool Council, Form Captain, Prefects and Eco Committee membership are examples of pupil-led roles within our community. Our children are equipped with a multitude of strategies and there are many avenues of support available to them, including but not limited to: their relationship with their teachers and form teachers, Worry Boxes, access to our School Counsellor / Play Therapist, PSHE lessons and Peer Mentors.

At St Michael’s, we promote open and honest communication with our parent body. We believe that a strong partnership between school and home enables children to truly thrive, be happy and fulfilled.

The emotional health and wellbeing of the staff, parents and Governors is of prime importance. It is recognised that secure and strong adults can better support the pupils. It is also important that the St Michael’s community feel confident that support is here for them.
