“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela
As pupils move into Years 7 & 8, we wish to emphasise the fact that they are our future. We pride ourselves on offering a unique experience in Years 7 & 8 at St Michael’s. We combine the familiarity of the staff and surroundings with providing pupils with many opportunities to increase their confidence and self-awareness and encourage them to set a positive example for the younger children to follow. Pupils have the opportunity to take on leadership roles, which help to prepare them for senior school life. They enjoy a number of residential trips, which build teamwork skills and friendship bonds that will last a lifetime.
The opportunity for pupils to flourish academically is naturally a priority, but we adapt our curriculum to suit the needs of pupils of all abilities, including preparations for scholarships and participation in a variety of areas including sport, music, art and drama. We celebrate with them their many talents and successes. We offer advice and guidance to parents and pupils about the senior schools which would best suit all of their needs.
We also welcome children from other schools to St Michael’s during these two years. We have recently been highlighted by ISI as providing strong pastoral care to all of our pupils, but staff who teach in the senior years recognise the specific needs of those approaching their teenage years.
We believe that by instilling in our pupils the importance of moral values, we are gifting them with the skills that can have the power to change our future for the better.
