Prep Art & Design Technology

In the St Michael’s Prep Art department your son/daughter will acquire skills and grasp concepts, leading to a deeper understanding of the subject and to a lifelong appreciation of Art and Design.

Your child’s creativity and imagination will be stimulated by visual, tactile and sensory experiences and a unique way of understanding and responding to the world. Childrens’ understanding of colour, form, texture, pattern and their ability to use materials and processes to communicate ideas, feeling and meanings will be developed.

We will explore together the ideas and meanings in the work of artists, crafts people and designers; helping them to learn about their different roles and about the functions of art, craft and design in their own lives and in different times and cultures. They will learn how to make thoughtful judgements and aesthetic and practical decisions, becoming actively involved in shaping environments.
