Throughout the year the St Michael’s community works hard to help those in need. This year we’ve raised funds for a number of charities, including Guide Dogs for the Blind, Comic Relief, Children in Need and Empathy Action. The Prep School Council selected their local, national and international charities as Demelza House, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and our other fund-raising events supported The Children’s Society; Shiva Charity; Reform, Restore Respect; Guys & St Thomas’; RSPCA; MNDA and Kent Association for the Blind.
Alongside the Global Citizenship initiative, we worked with the charity Empathy Action on a series of initiatives taken by the children themselves. These ranged from Anna’s success in saving her pocket money each week to Sam and Will’s sponsored head shave, all of which will help Syrian refugees. The Global Citizenship week culminated in a “Dress up Friday” with Prep pupils sporting outfits as citizens of the world.
Mrs Aisher said “We’re committed to developing a generation of passionate, articulate young people who feel moved and driven to make a difference, not only in school or the local community but also in the world as a whole.”
We’re very proud of our pupils, families and staff who give so generously of their time and money to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
