Every stage of my career has reflected my passion for Teaching and Learning, willingness to embrace challenges and commitment to achieving success. Through the experiences in my career, across three different school settings, I have a clear and informed vision of what pupils need to be prepared for beyond their Prep School life.
To me, a successful school has clear aims and values at its core. At St Michael’s we celebrate the joy and wonder of learning and, as the Deputy Head who led the curriculum and development of the school, it has been exciting to see where we can take the educational journey of the children.
I started my career at Hailsham College as an NQT and the success I achieved with exam results, attainment and pupil numbers led to a position as an Advanced Skills Teacher passing on my skills to other teachers. I then moved onto Hillview School as the Head of Dance, as part of a successful Performing Arts Specialist School. I was offered the position of Director of Sixth Form, which laid the foundations for my leadership position as Deputy Head at St Michael’s.
I aim to provide inspirational leadership which has two key purposes; firstly, to maximise the success of our pupils and secondly to inspire perseverance, persistence and love of learning in all stakeholders. I want to ensure that our pupils, and staff are committed to achieve throughout their lives, in whatever capacity this may be. I firmly believe that intelligence is not fixed and that it is our responsibility, as educators to develop a positive, growth mind-set in all, an understanding that working hard is the key to success.
I have been married for ten years to Ben Bridges, who also works at St Michael’s as Director of Sport. We both share a passion for running and travel the world competing in various events including my first marathon in Seville earlier this year. I believe passionately in a positive attitude to life and always aim to be inspired and inspire others.
