From the Head
There has been such a great deal of joy on faces this week; faces of pupils bagging great senior school results, faces of children in Year 3 taking a bow at the end of their exceptional production of “A Christmas Carol”, the diva dancers strutting their stuff at the Year 1 and 2 production of “Lights, Camel, Action” and the audiences at all these events, who have been blown away by what children can achieve when inspired and encouraged. Congratulations to each and every person involved in these productions and for the amazing staff who work to make these special things happen. Maybe the teachers have been relieved as well as joyful that all these milestones marking the festive season have been reached. We have a whole lot more ahead. Perhaps the most solemn of these is our Carol Service at Shoreham Church where we shall come together next Wednesday evening at 7 pm to celebrate in music and readings the Christmas story. If your child is participating in this, the rehearsal schedule letter will have come to you today. Please read it carefully and note the drop off and one way arrangements which we are putting in place to help the residents of the village.
Alongside the many events we have enjoyed this week I enjoyed my day with Mini Mrs Aisher as Jessica joined me for the day as Head. Jessica attended meetings with senior colleagues in which we discussed the training planned for staff next term, marketing issues, reviewing our curriculum policy as well as coming to Latin lessons with Year 7, doing paperwork, a parent email and a break duty and attending the KS1 production with me. I look forward to reading Jessica’s view of what her view from the top was! I certainly enjoyed it.
I shall be very sorry to say goodbye to my PA Francesca Wade this Christmas as she leaves for a part time position. I have enjoyed her friendship, sense of humour and practical hands on approach to improving the systems in the office and she has been instrumental in the very successful handover of all HR related matters to our new HR Administrator Nicola. I know she has made a huge difference in her short time here and wish her all the best in the future. She will always be most welcome at St Michael’s.
